In honour of deceased Congo Veterans from the locality. We were joined for the event by the families for the presentation of the Certificates.

Roger was a former MP, Kickham Barracks, Clonmel passed away, after a short illness, at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, on Sunday 28th January 2024.

John, former storeman B Coy 12 Inf Bn passed away on the 5th of November 2023, peacefully at his residence in the loving care of his family.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Pte Seán Rooney 121 Inf Bn UNIFIL who was killed near Al Aqbieh in Lebanon 14 Dec 2022 and to the families of the three personnel who were wounded. Ar dheis Dé to raibh a anam dílis.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and comrades of the personnel who were attacked. Four of the eight personnel in the two vehicle convoy were taken to hospital after the attack. The deceased was pronounced dead on arrival at Raee Hospital near the city of Sidon.

The Rotary Club of Clonmel and Post 24 Irish United Nations Veterans Association have come together to send basic school and medical aid to the Defence Forces and Rotary in the Lebanon when it will be distributed as part of a UNIFIL project.
Starting Monday, the 5th of October for three weeks each Monday Tuesday Wednesday from 2 pm to 5 pm Post 24 IUNVA will make the Veterans Cafe premises at the Railway Station Clonmel available to the public to leave in the following items;–
Medical basic Aid ;- PPE, Facemasks, gloves, Sanitizer, bandages, plasters and basic first aid kits.
School basic literacy Aid; – School textbooks, copybooks, stationery, educational toys, sports kits and equipment, serviceable IT equipment.
The literacy aid will go to the South Lebanon area where our soldiers have long been involved in school projects with the locals.
The medical aid goes to Beirut where the devastating August dock explosion left 350,000 people homeless overnight.
Clonmel has a long history with the army and we are appealing to everyone to give generously, any of the above items, into Veterans Cafe at the Railway Station over the next three weeks
If you cannot get to the cafe personally please phone or text John at 0862336479 and we will endeavour to collect items from you.
The next Irish Battalion will be bringing our items to the Lebanon with them in early November , so please drop in your offerings as soon as possible

It is with regret that we learned of the death of on Friday 12th June 2020, of Mick Haslam (Post 4 IUNVA) following an illness that he fought for some time, he was instrumental in the formation of Post 24 and held many appointments during his membership including Chairman and later President.

George who was KIA in Vietnam, was a native of Clonmel and served in Kickham Barracks and is a former UN Veteran.

The death occurred of Veteran Stephen Conroy, Fairfields, Clonmel and formerly Wicklow Town. Stephen passed away unexpectedly in Tenerife in the presence of his wife Bernie and sons Jamie and Lee. Wednesday 16th November 2016, Brigadier General Philip Brennan General Officer Commanding 1 Brigade paid a visit to Post 24 where he was met by members of the post. The visit coincides with his imminent departure to take up a new appointment as part of the EU Military Staff in Brussels.

Members of Post 24 were very busy during March with a trip to Teipval Bks Lisburn, at the Royal Irish Regiment Shamrock parade on 15 March 2014. See. Also there was the Flag day collections and of course our own participation in St. Patrick's Day parades in Clonmel. Some members of Post 24 attended the Ministerial Review of 44 Inf Gp prior to their departure to Syria at Stephens Bks Kilkenny.
